One of the most salient details in this series of fighting games is the music. Thanks to the setting of the games, most of the music belongs to the Min'yō genre (民謡), which basically means traditional Japanese folk music. Shamisen, Taiko, Shakuhachi and Tsuzumi are the most predominant tranditional Japanese instruments among others like Koto and Biwa, with songs ranging from the rhythmic to ambiental. But the Shinsekai Gakkyoku Zatsugidan took some liberties composing music, adding orchestra and rock genre songs. Also some Min'yō songs include arrangements with western instruments like guitar (both acoustic and electric), bass guitar, keyboards, or drum kit.
